Grand Traverse Band plans municipal marina

The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians is planning a municipal marina on its reservation in Michigan.

The tribe will work with the state Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to determine how to develop the marina. The tribe is seeking a $950,000 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to help pay for the project, which is estimated to cost between $5 million and $6 million.

The marina would be located in Peshawbestown, in Suttons Bay in Lake Michigan.
