Oklahoma Academy to discuss tribal partnerships

The Oklahoma Academy is hosting a four-day conference on how to build partnerships with the state's tribes.

"Oklahoma's Second Century: Building Alliances with Tribal Governments, State and Local Governments and Private Sectors” starts Sunday. The goal is to come up with common solutions, not to question tribal sovereignty, organizers said.

Topics to be discussed include economic development and tourism, education and work force; health care and social services; and infrastructure and transportation.

Oklahoma is home to 38 federally recognized tribe and one tribe that was recently removed from the list of recognized tribes.
