Seminole Tribe faces water crisis in Florida

The Seminole Tribe is taking steps to reduce water usage in response to drought conditions in southern Florida.

The drought conditions are affecting the Big Cypress and Brighton reservations. The tribe has cut off sugar cane planting and may not be able to continue cattle operations at Brighton, an attorney said.

The reservations depend on water from Lake Okeechobee. But water levels are at historic lows and state and federal officials are proposing unusual methods to ensure the tribe isn't cut off.
