Prairie Island Tribe elects council members

The Prairie Island Indian Community of Minnesota will be seeing some new faces on its tribal council.

Tribal members went to the polls on Friday. They re-elected three incumbents and two newcomers.

Alan Childs II, who currently serves as treasurer, was not among the top five vote-getters. Audrey Bennett, who currently serves as president, was not nominated to run for election.

The council members take office in December for two-year terms. A new president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and assistant secretary-treasurer will be named.
