The Jicarilla Apache Nation of New Mexico has entered into a partnership with an energy development firm from Texas.
The tribe and Enterprise Products Partners will share ownership and assets in a natural gas pipeline that crosses the reservation. Enterprise currently owns 100 percent of the pipeline.
The amount of the tribe's share was not released. But officials said it is worth more than the existing rights-of-way agreements for the pipeline.
The agreement between the tribe and Enterprise must be approved by the Interior Department.
