La Jolla Reservation hit by mudslides after fire

Heavy rain caused mudslides on the La Jolla Reservation, which is still recovering from wildfires in southern California.

One home was completely wrecked by mud while 10 others are at risk. That's in addition to the more than 50 homes and structures that were lost in the fire.

“We've had rain here before, but it never impacted us like that,” Chairman Tracy Nelson told The San Diego Union-Tribune. “We know it's the result of the fire.”

Flooding exposed water mains in the tribe's $2 million water system but none broke, the paper said.
