Barona Band hosts Yuman language summit

The Barona Band of Mission Indians is hosting the 6th annual Yuman Family Language Summit on its reservation in California.

The summit brings together all of the tribes that speak Yuman languages. Tribes in California, Arizona, Nevada and Mexico speak closely related languages and share common cultural beliefs.

About 400 people are expected for the conference, which starts today and ends on Thursday.
