Billings Gazette: Natives and Newcomers series

The Billings Gazette is running a special report on tribal sovereignty, tribal-state relations and the effects of sovereignty on business and non-Indians.

The stories in "Natives and Newcomers" have focused on a wide range of topics -- from jurisdiction to taxation to tribal courts to economic development. Montana tribes have been at the center of some major sovereignty court cases.
