Column: Visit Seminole Tribe's Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum

"The Seminole Tribe of Florida has a lot to offer tourists and anyone craving a taste of Florida B.C. (before casinos).

That's why I heartily recommend visiting the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum at the Big Cypress reservation south of Clewiston.

This museum is the real deal, with Seminoles telling their tribe's story. Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki means "a place to learn."

Augmenting the museum: A boardwalk and a trail through a majestic, 60-acre Cypress dome and a "Living Village" where tribe elders craft baskets, necklaces and wood carvings.

This is a great time to visit. On Jan. 27, the museum opened a yearlong "Osceola Remembered" exhibition."
