Kempthorne to testify on Interior budget

Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne Secretary Dirk Kempthorne will testify about the Interior Department's fiscal year 2009 budget before the House Interior Appropriations subcommittee on Thursday.

Kempthorne is seeking $10.7 billion for the department. The request for the Bureau of Indian Affairs is $2.2 billion, or $99.9 million below current levels. The request for the Office of Special Trustee for American Indians is $181.6 million, or $7.7 million below current levels.

The hearing takes place at 10am in Room B-308 of the Rayburn House Office Building. There is no available webcast.
