Sac and Fox Nation wants help with road project

The Sac and Fox Nation is asking the city of Shawnee, Oklahoma, for help pay for a road project.

The tribe is using $550,000 in Indian Reservation Road funds to widen a road. The tribe asked the city to contribute $100,000.

The city commissioners agreed to open bids on the project. The road is maintained by the city.

The tribe has spent more than $8 million on projects in the city, Principal Chief George Thurman said.
