Peltier takes FBI document case to appeals court

Imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier asked the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday to give him access to thousands of pages of FBI documents.

Peltier was convicted of murdering two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation in June 1975. He has long maintained his innocence but appeals through the court system have failed.

Peltier, however, hopes the document case can shed more light on the investigation. The FBI has turned over 3,500 pages but is withholding upwards of 100,000 pages, attorneys say.
