Turtle Mountain employee sentenced for assault

A former employee for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians in North Dakota was sentenced to more than three years for assault.

Douglas J. Delorme, 38, a former council member, was convicted of severely beating the tribe’s personnel director. The June 2000 incident came after concerns were raised about Delorme's performance as a fitness trainer for the tribe.

Delorme was previously convicted of embezzlement, tampering with a witness and subornation of perjury for crimes committed when he sat on the tribal council.
