North Dakota tribe nears oil tax agreement with state

The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation is near an oil tax agreement with the state of North Dakota, Chairman Marcus Wells Jr. said.

The deal would resolve differing tax rates on Indian and non-Indian land on the Fort Berthold Reservation.

Wells said the agreement would encourage development on the reservation.
