North Carolina radio host accused of racism

Tribal leaders in North Carolina are calling for the resignation of a radio show host for making disparaging comments about Native Americans.

Bob Dumas of G-105 made jokes about "lazy" Indians on his morning show last week. The North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs says the incident shows a pattern of abuse by Dumas against minorities.

WDCG general manager Dick Harlow has apologized for the comments. He said he is considering disciplinary action against Dumas.

Dumas invited Gregory Richardson, executive director of the N.C. Commission of Indian Affairs, and Jimmy Goins, chairman of the Lumbee Tribe, to appear on his show but both declined. Richardson is a member of the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe.
