Hopi corporation plans $92.5M economic project

A non-profit economic development corporation established by the Hopi Tribe of Arizona is moving forward with a 92.5 million project.

The Moenkopi Developers Corporation, Inc. envisions a major retail, lodging and commerce center in the Upper Village of Moenkopi. Plans call for a 100-room hotel and conference center, fast-food restaurants, a grocery store, art gallery and a building that could serve as a university branch.

The project would be located on 72 acres in the village, across the highway from Tuba City, a town on the Navajo Nation that is already a center of economic activity.
