Twelve priceless gold works by the late Haida artist Bill Reid were among items stolen in a brazen theft at the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia last Friday.

The museum is offering a $50,000 reward for information about the theft. Including other artifacts that were stolen, the thieves made off with more than $2 million in gold artworks.

Reid, who excelled in sculpture, jewelry, carving, canoe-building and other forms, is considered one of Canada's top artists. Four of his works appear on the Canadian $20 bill. He died in 1998.
