County official blames Soboba leaders for violence
A supervisor in Riverside County, California, said leaders of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians deserve some of the blame for violent incidents on the reservation.

Third District Supervisor Jeff Stone suggested that the violence will continue without a change in leadership. Though he apparently did not mention names, Chairman Robert Salgado is related to two tribal members who were killed in a recent shootout with sheriff's deputies.

Salgado was highly critical of the county sheriff's actions in the wake of the shootings and later apologized for his charged remarks.. He has been meeting with local officials in hopes of resolving concerns about law enforcement on the reservation.

The Riverside Sheriffs' Association, however, is warning deputies and the general public not to go to the reservation out of fear of more violence.
