A housing complex six years in the making finally opened on the Navajo Nation.

The Chaco River Apartment Complex features 96 apartments. Officials said it will provide affordable housing to people who live and work in the Shiprock, New Mexico, area.

"Our efforts to meet the critical housing needs of our community are finally happening," said Shiprock Chapter President Duane "Chili" Yazzie, The Farmington Daily Times reported.
