California tribes declare public health emergency
Three California tribes have declared public health emergencies due to smoky conditions caused by wildfires.

The Hoopa Valley Tribe, the Karuk Tribe and the Yurok Tribe say more and more people are being treated for smoke-related problems. The Northern California Indian Development Council is spending $100,000 to help tribal members deal with the conditions.

Several counties in northern California also declared health emergencies. They are pushing the state and the federal government to do the same.
