A 10-year-old Choctaw Nation boy from Oklahoma is urging American Indians to register as bone marrow donors.

Christian Anderson hopes one of the donors will match his sister, Tallie Anderson, also 10. Tallie has been diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia, a blood disorder, and will need a transplant.

"I know it's very important for my sister if somebody can find a bone marrow donor,” Christian said at a press conference, The Oklahoman reported.

Bone marrow matches are more likely to be found among people of the same ethnicity or racial group.
