Potawatomi descendants are retracing the route their ancestors were forced to make 170 years ago.
In September 1838, more than 850 Potawatomi in Indiana were marched out of the state at gunpoint. They were forced to walk 660 miles to Kansas in what is known as the Potawatomi Trail of
Death.
The Trail of Death commemorative caravan began September 22 in Indiana and will end in Kansas on September 28. Its the fifth time the caravan has been organized.
