Daschle campaigns for Sen. Obama in New Mexico
Former Sen. Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota) is campaigning for Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) in New Mexico, touting the Democratic presidential candidate's Indian agenda.

Daschle, who served on the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, is advising Obama on Indian issues. He says Obama will create a position at the White House to address Indian Country and hold an annual tribal summit.

"Pressures that Americans are feeling are felt even more acutely in Indian country," Daschle told The Farmington Daily Times.

Daschle spoke at the National Indian Gaming Association conference in Albuquerque yesterday. Obama met with more than tribal leaders in Albuquerque last month.
