Shakopee Tribe's donations to NCAI total $716K
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community made a $292,930 donation to the National Congress of American Indians last month, bringing the Minnesota tribe's contributions to the organization to $716,997.

The tribe donated the money as part of a $1 million challenge to fund NCAI's Embassy of Tribal Nations, a permanent home for the organization in Washington, D.C. "We think it is important to support this project so that our Indian Nations can have a stronger voice in the policies and practices of the federal government," said Chairman Stanley R. Crooks.

NCAI holds its 65th annual convention in Phoenix, Arizona, next week.
