Officer in Navajo hit and run under investigation
A police officer in Albuquerque, New Mexico, remains under internal investigation for his role in the fatal hit and run of Vera "Tonie" Haskell, who was a member of the Navajo Nation.

Sgt. Andrew Gallegos was accused of hitting Haskell, 47, in the parking lot of a bar on April 6, 2008. A judge this week said prosecutors lacked probable cause to proceed with charges.

But Gallegos remains on paid administrative leave while the police department determines whether he violated policies or procedures.
