Swine flu death reported on Gila River Reservation
A 57-year-old woman from the Gila River Indian Community died after contracting the H1N1 virus, commonly known as swine flu, the Arizona Department of Health Services said.

The woman died last week. The state, however, said it was unsure if she succumbed to the virus or another condition.

The death is the first in Indian Country from the virus. A handful of non-threatening cases have been reported on reservations in Arizona and Montana, and potential cases were reported on reservations in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
