Mohawk veterans awarded high school diplomas

More than 40 veterans from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York received their high school diplomas at a ceremony on the reservation on Wednesday.

The 45 veterans served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. They were unable to complete high school due to their military service.

"It's nice they're acknowledging us," Orlo W. Ransom, who dropped out of high school to serve in the Korean War, told The Watertown Daily Times.

The veterans received their diplomas as part of Operation Recognition.
