Native woman thanks officers for saving newborn
A Native woman and her family thanked police officers in Winnipeg. Manitoba, for saving her newborn infant.

Heather Richard, 32, didn't know she was pregnant when she gave birth at her family's home. Luckily, two officers happened to be there for an unrelated reason.

"I look and I see her sitting here and crying and pointing at the toilet. So I look and there is a baby in there with the foot hanging out and there's blood everywhere and I didn't know what to do and so I got really shocked," brother Keith Richard told CBC News.

An officer performed CPR on the newborn while paramedics responded to the scene. The five-pound, nine-ounce boy and the mother are doing well in the hospital.
