Former Mohawk leader arrested on drug charges
Philip H. Tarbell, a former chief of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York, has been charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Tarbell, 67, once led an anti-drug march on the reservation, The Watertown Daily Times reported. He carried a banner that read "Akwesasne Against Drugs," the paper said.

Tarbell was charged in state court after police found about 23 pounds of marijuana in his car.
