Residential school commission seeking new members
The Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission is trying to find replacements for all three of its members.

Former chairman Harry LaForme, an Ontario appeal court justice and member of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, resigned in late October in a dispute with the other two members of the commission. The remaining members were expected to stay on but they too resigned.

A selection committee is accepting applications for the posts but the process could trigger a new settlement agreement because the commission was supposed to get its work done in five years. The government agreed to the commission as part of a settlement with former residential school students.
