Omnibus bill includes reservation projects
An omnibus spending bill under consideration in Congress includes millions of dollars in tribal projects, Sen. Tim Johnson (D-South Dakota) said.

The FY 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act funds numerous federal agencies and includes several appropriations bills that are normally considered separately.

According to Johnson, the South Dakota tribal funding follows:
Commerce-Justice-Science
• $750,000 for Oglala Sioux Tribe law enforcement
• $250,000 for Oglala Sioux Tribe 911 system upgrades
• $100,000 for Rosebud Sioux Tribe Boys and Girls Club

Transportation-HUD
• $2 million for Pine Ridge reservation's Cuny Table Road
• $237,500 for the Four Bands Community Fund in Eagle Butte
• $237,500 for the Lakota Fund in Kyle

Labor-HHS-Education
• $571,000 for the Oglala Lakota College nursing program
• $476,000 for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe's suicide prevention programs
• $381,000 for the Oglala Sioux Tribe's diabetes program
• $380,000 for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe's alcohol and substance abuse treatment center
• $167,000 to replace the Oglala Sioux Tribe ambulance building

Interior
• $1 million for the Inter-Tribal Bison Cooperative
