Miccosukee man set for hearing over fatal accident
A member of the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida is asking to be released from jail for allegedly causing a fatal car accident.

Thomas D. Cypress, 45, the brother of chairman Billy Cypress, is charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter. He is accused of killing a Maryland couple on the Tamiami Trail.

Tribal police investigated the accident but it occurred off the reservation. Cypress is being held in county jail.

According to The Miami Herald, Cypress has two prior DUI arrests. The second charge was dismissed because prosecutors weren't able to serve him papers on the reservation, the paper said.
