Pueblo leader may be involved in fatal accident
A leader from Pojoaque Pueblo may have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident but federal, tribal and local officials won't discuss the matter, The Santa Fe New Mexican reports.

Lt. Gov. Linda Diaz is rumored to be the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed Phillip Espinoza, 31, along a busy highway that passes through the reservation. Espinoza worked at the casino owned by Santa Clara Pueblo and was last seen there on Friday night.

Diaz is being represented by Sam Winder, a former federal prosecutor. He said no charges have been filed in the case and denied that Diaz is considered a suspect.

Espinoza's body was found on Saturday. The driver of the vehicle contacted tribal police on Sunday, the paper said, and the case was turned over to federal investigators.
