'Native Nation Revival' in April issue of Monocle
Two tribes in the U.S. and a First Nation in Canada were featured in an article in the April 2009 issue of Monocle.

"Little Big Bucks" looked at three success stories: the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and the Osoyoos Indian Band in British Columbia. "Native Nations are finally developing some economic and political clout," the article states.

Lance Morgan, the chief executive officer of Ho-Chunk Inc., the Winnebago Tribe's economic development corporation, was interviewed. He said the tribes are using their sovereignty to maximize their success.

"The trick is to transition this to create a real economy," said Morgan, a tribal member. "But I'm a bit of a lawyer and I'm not into being exploited anymore, neither is my tribe. I push and fight for tribal rights and it so happens that it also expands our opportunities."

Ho-Chunk Inc owns Indianz.Com and its sister e-commerce site, AllNative.Com.
