EchoHawk announces three members of DC team
Larry EchoHawk, the new head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, announced three additions to his staff in Washington, D.C.

Wizipan Garriott, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, is serving as policy adviser. Garriott worked for the Obama-Biden campaign and on the presidential transition.

Tracie Stevens, a member of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, is a senior adviser. She has experience in Indian gaming, tribal governance and tribal-state relations.

Paul Tsosie, a member of the Navajo Nation, is EchoHawk's chief of staff. Tsosie is an attorney from Utah who has worked for the Navajo community in Utah and on tribal and federal Indian law issues

“I am pleased to announce the addition of Wizipan Garriott, Tracie Stevens and Paul Tsosie to my staff,” EchoHawk said in a press release “The knowledge, experience and abilities they bring to Indian Affairs will ensure that we can meet our priorities to protect Indian Country, advance Indian education and empower tribal communities.”

One position that will be filled soon is the principal deputy assistant secretary, the number two position at the BIA. Donald Laverdure, a member of the Crow Tribe of Montana who has served as his tribe's legal counsel, is expected to take the job in coming weeks.
