Navajo court allows vote on reform initiatives
The Navajo Nation Supreme Court won't stop tribal members from voting on two government reform initiatives.

The first initiative reduces the size of the Navajo Nation Council from 88 delegates to 24 delegates. The second gives the Navajo Nation President line-authority veto over council legislation.

President Joe Shirley Jr. supports both initiatives. "It is a judgment on behalf of the people and their inalienable right to participate and have a say in how their government is structured, how it works and how the people’s resources are used,'" he told the Associated Press.

The vote is expected to take place before the end of the year.
