Suspended Seneca leader denies allegations
Maurice A. John Sr., the immediate past president of the Seneca Nation of New York, says allegations that he misappropriated tribal funds are politically motivated.

John says his family and staff lost their jobs when a new slate of tribal leaders came into power. He apparently admits taking $120,000 but claims it was owed to him and his family.

"I’ll protect myself and my family," John, 61, told The Buffalo News. "Because they attacked my family, I will not go down quietly."

The tribe suspended John from the Seneca Gaming Corp. following an investigation into the $120,000 The tribe said it will forward its findings to federal prosecutors.
