EchoHawk promises support for Navajo project
Assistant Secretary Larry EchoHawk, the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, wrapped up a three-day visit to the Navajo Nation.

EchoHawk vowed support for Navajo Agricultural Products Industry, a tribal venture, and the Navajo Indian Irrigation Project, a federal project. Navajo leaders pressed the Obama administration to provide funding for the project.

"We'll do everything we can to help," said EchoHawk, who grew up in the area, The Farmington Daily Times reported.

Elsewhere on the reservation, EchoHawk helped Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. break ground on phase two of a project to replace the Rough Rock Community School in Chinle, Arizona. Money for the $56 million effort came from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
