Gila River Tribe urged to allow freeway thru reservation
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) is asking the Gila River Indian Community to support the construction of the South Mountain Freeway on the reservation.

The tribe is open to the idea, Gov. Gov. William Rhodes said last week. The tribe wants to protect South Mountain from damage, Rhodes said.

Brewer said the state will work with the tribe to address impacts to its culture and land.
