Split Lake First Nation teenage girl killed in house fire
A teenage girl from the Tataskweyak Cree Nation of Manitoba was killed in a house fire on Monday.

Ashley Grieves, whose age was reported as 16 or 17, was sleeping when the fire broke out early in the morning. "They couldn't get her out," older sister Jenny Keeper told The Winnipeg Free Press.

Grieves' death comes as a "shock" to the reserve, Chief Duke Beardy told CBC News. "The young people in the community are really shocked because the ones that I know, they were close to the family,"

The cause of the fire is under investigation. An autopsy is pending
