Notah Begay helps San Felipe Pueblo break ground on park
Navajo / Pueblo Golfer Notah Begay III helped San Felipe Pueblo in New Mexico break ground on a community park and soccer field that tribal leaders hope will promote healthy lifestyles and combat diabetes.

The Notah Begay Foundation provided a $500,000 grant for the project. The tribe kicked in $250,000 of its own funds.

“This is a place you can come together, exercise and play,” said War Chief Michael A. Sandoval, Indian Country Today reported. “This is the place you can support and be proud of.”

Begay's mother is from San Felipe Pueblo.
