First Nation seeks inquiry after another death in foster care
The Sturgeon Lake First Nation of Saskatchewan is seeking a public inquiry after a second child died in foster care.

Evander Lee Daniels, who was 22 months old, was in the care of the province. He died last week after an apparent drowning.

"For the second time in six months a child belonging to Sturgeon Lake First Nation has died in the care of the province," the band said in a press release, CBC News reported. "In both cases, the children died in suspicious circumstances."

Anthony Daniels, the other child who died, was a cousin of Evander Daniels, The Prince Albert Daily Herald reported. Both children had been placed in the same foster home, the paper said.

Chief Chief Wesley Daniels said he believes 116 Native children are in foster care in the province.
