Judge lets counties join Mishewal Wappo recognition lawsuit
A federal judge said three counties can join the federal recognition lawsuit of the Mishewal Wappo Tribe of California.

Sonoma County, Napa County and Lake County say their interests will be affected if the tribe gains recognition. Their concerns mainly seem to involve gaming.

The tribe was terminated by an act of Congress in 1959. The lawsuit claims the federal government failed to abide by the law.

Settlement talks are underway with the Interior Department.
