California names first official for Native veterans affairs

California appears to be the first state in the nation with a post dedicated to Native American veterans affairs.

Pedro Molina, a member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona, was sworn in as Assistant Secretary for Native American Veterans Affairs within the California Department of Veterans Affairs. "This is a great opportunity to help our veterans and I look forward to reaching out to the Native American veterans from all Nations in California," Molina said in a press release on Amvets.Org.

Molina, who served in the U.S. Army, most recently worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs as the American Indian program manager and marketing and community relations representative.

"Pedro Molina has a long and distinguished history of serving our nation’s veterans and I know he'll do a great job executing this new role in my Administration," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) said in a press release.
