Members of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina will meet next Monday to discuss the tribe's federal recognition effort.

The tribe fired longtime attorney Arlinda Locklear, who had been working on recognition for free for the last 20 years, and signed a contract with Lewin International of Nevada. The Lumbee Sovereignty Coalition wants to discuss the change in strategy.

The House passed a bill to recognize the tribe. The Senate has yet to take action.
