Lac du Flambeau president disputes removal from post
Jerome "Brooks" Big John has continued to work as president of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin although some tribal council members said they removed him from office.

Big John contends a removal vote at a council meeting on Monday was unconstitutional. He was in tribal court yesterday although the results of the hearing haven't been reported.

The removal vote came after Big John suspended tribal administrator Marilyn Miller. He said he had received numerous complaints about her job performance.

Big John has only served as president since February. His predecessor, Carl Edwards, was on the job for less than a year.
