Miccosukee Tribe asserts sovereignty against IRS summons
The Miccosukee Tribe of Florida says it doesn't have to turn over documents to the Internal Revenue Service.

The IRS issued a summons to the tribe as part of an investigation into former chairman Billy Cypress, The Miami Herald reported. The agency is demanding information from the tribe's bank and information about usage of the tribe's credit cards.

Cypress led the tribe for more than 20 years. He oversaw the opening of the tribe's casino.
