Lummi Nation receives $11.5M loan to upgrade water system
The Lummi Nation of Washington has received an $11.5 million loan from the Department of Agriculture.

The money will be used to upgrade the water system on the reservation. Much of the system is 30 years older or more, sewer and water district manager Bill McCourt told The Bellingham Herald.

"It will make things much easier to maintain," McCourt said of the upgrades being planned.

The loan will be repaid through fees charged to water system users.
