Mashantucket Tribe receives grant to start breast cancer program
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has received a grant for a breast cancer education and prevention program.

The $35,325 grant came from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. The tribe will use the money for education sessions, information booths and materials distribution and to conduct programs with Indian cancer survivors and other advocates, The Norwich Bulletin reported.

The tribe said the program is the first Indian cancer awareness program in the East.
