The Fernandeno Tataviam Band of Mission Indians of California has created a new social networking site for Indian Country.
The tribe received a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to create
ndn.me. The site offers users a chance to connect with people from their tribe and other Native Americans.
"The focus is on tying everyone in the Native community together," tribal administrator Rudy Ortega Jr. told The Los Angeles Daily News. "When someone leaves a reservation, they can use it to learn where the Indian organizations and events in a city are at. Or vice versa, they can use it to communicate back with people on the reservation."
The site officially launched last Friday.
